#AHT: International conference dedicated to modern gynecological tumors diagnosis and treatment standards

Close cooperation has taken place between AHT and experts from leading countries of the world

On May 6-7, an international conference was held at the American Hospital in Tbilisi – AHT. The conference, led by Georgian and foreign specialists, was dedicated to the standards of modern diagnosis and treatment of gynecological tumors. In a two-day working format, the report was presented by recognized experts from the field from the USA, Austria, Belgium, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. Today, there are serious challenges in oncogynecology, so Georgian and foreign colleagues in this field must share their visions or latest achievements. Most importantly, the foundation was laid for future cooperation between AHT and experts from the world’s leading countries, within the framework of which similar events will continue.

The conference was hosted by several departments of American Hospital Tbilisi. According to Natia Jokhadze, one of the organizers, and the head of the AHT Department of Clinical Oncology, oncology is one of the fastest-growing fields of medicine, and, most importantly, Georgian doctors have always felt the magic of medical progress:

“In general, there are many challenges in gynecological oncology and the purpose of this conference was to share their experiences. We invited experts from the US and Europe to the conference, sharing the visions and approaches of different oncology schools.

It is noteworthy that clinical practice differs between America and Europe and even between schools in different European countries, which is significantly determined by access to financial resources.

It was very important for us to formulate how to conduct the best medical practice in a country with limited resources, following modern trends, “- said Natia Jokhadze.

According to him, during the conference, foreign and Georgian experts discussed several important issues, including deeper and more fruitful cooperation with the American Hospital Tbilisi.

“In particular, we agreed to carry out joint projects, to exchange specialists between clinics, to invite colleagues to conduct LIVE operations in AHT. We also talked about the important issue that we want to introduce in our hospital, in particular, the post-treatment rehabilitation program for cancer patients. The American expert offered training to our specialists at Brown University to introduce this program, ”said Natia Jokhadze.

In the framework of future cooperation, an even larger conference is planned at the American Hospital in Tbilisi. However, experts invited to the conference on May 6-7 stressed that the cozy format of the conference turned out to be very comfortable to work with, as the bilateral discussion was quite interactive.
