Dr. David Shengelia

Interventional radiology is one of the popular and developing directions of modern diagnostics and treatment. With this latest medical technology, many operations can be avoided, and therefore, it is not surprising that in Georgia, this service is available only in single clinics.

At American Hospital in Tbilisi, the direction of interventional radiology is headed by radiologist Dr. Davit Shengelia. He says that while studying at the medical university, he became interested in this direction of medicine for only one reason – nationwide, interventional medicine is not represented strongly and at full capacity. Interventional radiology involves carrying out different types of manipulations for diagnostic and treatment purposes, by means of computerized tomography, ultrasound or X-ray control and minimally invasive.
